Cork

Cork, located in the southwest of Ireland, is Ireland鈥檚 second largest city (population 300,000) and one of the world鈥檚 most beautiful natural harbours. It is a cosmopolitan, modern city with a vibrant caf茅, restaurant and nightlife culture. Cork鈥檚 international airport is only 6 km from the university and the city has well-developed rail and bus connections. The university is only ten minutes walk from the city centre. Cork has been nominated the European Capital of Culture and is also voted one of the top 10 best cities to live in by the Lonely Planet Guide.

Cork is a gateway to some of Ireland鈥檚 most stunning scenery. Hiking, cycling, canoeing, running, mountain-biking, sailing, surfing, and golf are all hugely popular. Cork has a rich tradition of theatre, music, art, literature and poetry and the city hosts the world-famous international Jazz, Choral, Film and Folk festivals. Cork cuisine is famous and tourists flock to one of Europe鈥檚 oldest covered markets to buy fresh fish, vegetables and artisan food products.
